Pour Over Set, salt-fired stoneware, 10" x 8" x 4"

Bakersville-based studio potter Suze Lindsay has spent several decades oscillating between student and teacher. She studied at institutions like Penland School of Crafts in the late 1980s and later Louisiana State University for her masters in fine art, and has taught at numerous notable craft centers stateside, including Penland, Haystack in Maine, and Arrowmont in Tennessee, and abroad—in Canada, China, and Chile. From her home studio that she shares with her husband, potter Kent McLaughlin, under the name Fork Mountain Pottery, Lindsay crafts functional pieces that are wheel-thrown and then altered with hand-building techniques, which imbues her forms with playful characteristics. Her pour over set, inspired by many camping trips, comes complete with the coffee pot and filter. See Lindsay’s work at Penland Gallery & Visitors Center and in Bakersville at Mica Gallery and also her studio showroom. forkmountainpottery.com
