On The Verge submission - Brynda
It was recognized by others that I had a natural born talent for art at about age 3. I began private art classes at age 9 and continued until I graduated high school in 1970. Art wasn't an option for study in my small high school in lowcountry South Carolina. I earned ribbons from the county fair and some awards from city festival art shows around the Charleston area. I studied fine arts at Ringling School of Art, Sarasota, Fl. and also under Richard Halsey at the College of Charleston. Having sparked an interest in natural healing and the medicinal properties of plants while I was at Ringling, I operated "Wings of the Wind" natural foods store for 2 years which also became my studio as I painted and sold my art there. In 1978 I married, moved to Asheville in 1980 and life changed as I had 2 talented children and began to focus on teaching art at their school, privately and in the classroom. Teaching continued for several years as I focused on inspiring these children to explore their abilities and also conducted yearly art exhibitions at the school. I also taught a large group of homeschoolers for two years during which time I illustrated the book "By His Hand" by Raphael Valerio. I have exhibited in some small art shows in the Asheville area, and used to sell my work through the late "Art, Etc." frame shop. I became a breast cancer survivor in 2006 and live with my husband in a very peaceful, remote area outside of Asheville. I continue to study plant medicine, healthy lifestyle, and natural food preparation as I formulate ways to express amazing secrets to health, longevity and happiness through my art.
