Artist:
Carley Dergins
Bio:

Dergins’ life began in 1983, in Grand Rapids, Michigan where her parents owned a small farm in the country. Their farm animals consisted of two goats and two ducks. Her father, Scott Dergins, a furniture designer moved the family several times during childhood.

Carley was introduced to art at a very young age. When she was 9, her grandfather, gave her a set of French curves, a t-square, and a box of prismicolor markers. Not knowing what they were for exactly, Carley experimented with them anyway. The enthusiasm and support of her family offered Carley the tools and environment for expressing herself in a variety of mediums.

Carley’s family moved to western North Carolina in 1998. The artist received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the school, with an intermedia concentration in printmaking and mixed media. As to date, she has shown work cities all over North Carolina. Her most recent accomplishments include a Printmakers of North Carolina Award from Pulling Prints Together, an Exhibition Juried by Linda Dougherty, Curator of Contemporary Art at the NC Museum of Art; and Launched: 2nd Annual NC Undergraduate Juried Exhibition held at the McColl Center for Visual Art, Charlotte NC, with Juror Bill Gaskins of Parsons The New School for Design.
