Ken Abbott lives in Asheville, NC with his wife and two children. He has an MFA in photography from Yale University (1987). He is currently working on a book project about a historic farm in Fairview, NC, and the influential legacy of the family that has farmed there since 1916. He also photographs the human landscape of Asheville and surrounding areas, and received the North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship Award for his photography in 2006. In 2009 he began a project photographing the coal mining country and communities of West Virginia and Kentucky. Prior to moving to Asheville he was the Chief Photographer for the University of Colorado at Boulder for fifteen years.
