On the Verge

10 of the Best Emerging Artists in WNC

For the second year in a row, WNC magazine has put the call out to Western North Carolina’s emerging visual artists. It’s a crowded field around here for talented people and sometimes it can be difficult to get your work seen by the public. That’s why we’re looking for painters, sculptors, ceramicists, photographers, mixed media artist, fabric artists, and any other type of local visual artist who’s looking for an opportunity to reach a wider audience.

WThe winners of this juried competition will not only be featured in WNC magazine’s Arts Issue in June, but will also have their work exhibited in a month-long show at Flood Gallery & Fine Arts Center in the heart of Asheville’s River Arts District.

New for 2010
WNC magazine is proud to partner with Phil Mechanic Studios and Flood Gallery & Fine Arts Center, for On the Verge. Phil Mechanic—and the River District as a whole—is an integral part of this area's flourishing arts community. This year, the On the Verge exhibit will be open to the public during the River Arts District Studio Stroll on Saturday, June 12, 2010, meaning even greater exposure for the finalists.

We are also adding a People’s Choice category to On the Verge this year. Right now, visitors to http://www.wncmagazine.com/otv/vote can view samples from all the artists and vote for their favorite. Everyone is allowed one vote per day until judging closes on February 22. The top pick will be an On the Verge finalist along with the juried selections.

People's Choice voting is now closed.
