Mountain Dance & Folk Festival

Fiddlers, pickers, dulcimer sweepers, and dancers converge in Asheville for the country’s oldest folk festival. In 1928, legendary banjo player and singer Bascom Lamar Lunsford gathered some of most talented folk performers of the time for a series of performances. For more than 76 years, the festival has furthered Lunsford’s goal of sharing and educating people about Southern Appalachian culture.
