Hickory Nut Gorge Olympiad

The lighting of the Olympiad torch marks the beginning of this family sports festival. Participants can compete in the Three Races in Three Days challenge, consisting of the 10K Dam Run, Lake Lure Spirit Triathlon, and Race to the Rock (a 5K run or 7K bike course). Lake swims and kayak races, golf, horseshoe, and volleyball tournaments are free. Kids can compete in the Junior Olympiad, which includes a 50-yard dash, long jump, mountain bike sprints, and an obstacle course. There will also be a dragon-boat race, water-ski show, and a fireworks display. Proceeds from entry fees benefit local nonprofit groups and emergency services.
