Grandfather Mountain Highland Games

Started in 1956, the Grandfather Highland Games has become one of the most popular and colorful gatherings of Scottish clans and celebration of Gaelic heritage in the Southeast. In addition to the traditional demonstrations of dancing, music, food, and competitions of strength, the games include events for children. Proceeds are used to support the games and an annual scholarship fund for Avery County students.
